NCC President Urges Journalists to Uphold Professional Ethics

The President of Cameroon’s National Communication Council (NCC), Joseph Chebongkeng Kalabubse, has urged journalists to uphold professional ethics and promote responsible reporting amid evolving challenges in the media landscape.

He made the call on Friday, October 9, 2026, during a one-day thematic workshop held at the Yaoundé Episcopal Conference Hall.

Organised by Municipal Updates Daily to mark its 10th anniversary, the workshop brought together more than 40 media professionals to discuss three key themes: post-armed conflict reporting, rural communication and cybercriminality.

The discussions provided an opportunity for media practitioners to examine professional challenges and the responsibilities of journalism in conflict-affected communities, rural areas and an increasingly digital information environment.

The workshop formed part of activities marking a decade of publication for Municipal Updates Daily, while highlighting the importance of ethical standards and responsible communication in Cameroon’s media sector.

As journalists navigate growing digital risks and the rapid circulation of information, professional ethics remain central to accurate reporting, public trust and accountability.
