INVESTING IN THE FUTURE: FEAM AWARDS
FCFA 3 MILLION IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO 71 DESERVING FAKO STUDENTS

In a powerful demonstration of community resilience and dedication to youth
empowerment, the Fako Educational Administrators Meeting (FEAM) officially
awarded FCFA 3 million in financial assistance and educational materials to 71 underprivileged yet high-performing students across Fako Division.

The  3rd edition of the FEAM Scholarship and
Educational Support Programme took place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Government Technical High School (GTHS) Buea, drawing a passionate crowd of school leaders, proud parents, regional officials, and resilient students.

Under the theme “Empowering Fako Future:
Investing in Education to Transform Lives,” FEAM, an umbrella association
of public secondary school principals across Fako’s 46 public secondary institutions pulled together internal resources to ensure that lack of finance does not stand in the way of academic dreams.

Addressing the assembly, FEAM President Mola Kange Singe urged beneficiaries to utilize the cash awards and textbooks
effectively “We were once like you, and today we are where we are. Our
wish is to see you grow and help others. These gifts of cash and books should be put to use so as to yield the expected results.”

   Acknowledging the socio-political backdrop
of the Anglophone crisis affecting the Southwest Region, Mola Singe advised
students to remain vigilant regarding security while keeping their academicbgoals paramount “No matter what is happening around us, education is important. Check the level of security in your area before stepping out… Your security is of essence, but your education is more important.”

Gracing the ceremony, the Regional Delegate
of Secondary Education for the Southwest, Dr. Njie Martin Esongo, commended FEAM for creating a life-changing safety net for vulnerable children.

Dr. Esongo emphasized that tracking student
performance is central to the sustainability of the scholarship program “Education
is the key, and any person who is educated has a future which is certain…
Next year’s investment in them depends on what they do in the classroom this
year,” Dr. Esongo noted to the press.

Among the 71 beneficiaries comprising 53
first-cycle students, 13 second-cycle students, and 5 university-level scholars was Mbella Songe Ivo from GHS Limbe.

“I was in Form 5 two years ago when I
first benefited from this scheme, which went a long way to assist my education with textbooks and notebooks,” Ivo shared. “I made a promise to myself that I would work hard. I wrote my Advanced Level this year and passed successfully! Thanks to their support, I am now heading to the university.”

Since its inception, FEAM has supported over
321 students across three editions. Aligned with the inclusive educational vision of the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, FEAM aims to expand its partner network ahead of the 2027 edition to reach even more
needy learners across Fako Division.
