In a communique dated October 3, 2026, Mayor David Mafani Namange said the reminder forms part of ongoing efforts to improve sanitation and keep Buea clean.
The Council cited Municipal Deliberation No. 22 of August 6, 2025, which established penalties for indiscriminate waste dumping.
Under the measures announced, the fines are:- Households: FCFA 25,000- Business establishments: FCFA 250,000- Medical waste: FCFA 250,000.
The Mayor called on residents to cooperate with the Council by disposing of waste responsibly and helping maintain a clean environment.
The communique also requested media organisations to broadcast the announcement repeatedly to ensure that residents are informed of the penalties.
The warning comes amid ongoing efforts to improve sanitation in Buea, where proper waste management remains important to public health and the cleanliness of neighbourhoods and business areas.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to use appropriate waste-disposal methods and comply with municipal regulations.
