Nine Young Church Members Reportedly Die in Mudeka Canoe Accident

At least nine young members of the Ark of God Church have reportedly died after a canoe they were travelling in capsized in Mudeka, Tiko Subdivision, in Cameroon’s South West Region.

The victims, reportedly all below the age of 25, are said to have travelled to a waterside site to make preparations for the birthday celebration of their church leader, Apostle John Chi.

According to reports, the group was travelling to or from the site when the canoe overturned, throwing the passengers into the water.At least nine people are reported to have died in the incident, with their bodies reportedly taken to the mortuary of the Tiko District Hospital.

The tragedy has plunged the church community and relatives of the victims into mourning, as local residents and authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The exact number of casualties and other details surrounding the incident have not yet been officially confirmed.
