MINPROFF Records 4,883 Gender-Based Violence Cases in Cameroon Between January and June
Cameroon recorded 4,883 cases of gender-based violence between January and June 2026, according to statistics from the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family (MINPROFF).

The figure was highlighted as part of the ongoing CRTV–MINPROFF campaign against femicide, which has entered its second week and is focusing on statistics and public awareness surrounding gender-based violence in the country.
According to MINPROFF, the 4,883 cases were reported during the first six months of the year, highlighting the scale of gender-based violence being recorded across Cameroon.
Gender-based violence can affect people of different genders, although women and girls are disproportionately affected by many forms of such violence.
The latest campaign is using the available statistics to draw public attention to the prevalence of gender-based violence and the need for stronger prevention, reporting and response mechanisms.
The 4,883 cases recorded between January and June represent reported cases and should not necessarily be understood as the total number of incidents occurring during the period, as some cases may go unreported.
The campaign is expected to continue raising awareness about gender-based violence and femicide while encouraging communities to take action against violence and support victims and survivors.
